I’ve recently splashed out and bought myself a couple of band posters. A Queens of the Stone Age one by Jay Ryan and a Mastodon one by Rhys Cooper. These are both screen prints, produced by hand by the artists and commissioned to advertise upcoming concerts.
There are lots of aspects that I love about these posters – the bands of course but also the stunning work of the artists and style inherent in the printing technique. Knowing that the design and production of them has been to advertise and commemorate a single concert date, these posters feel a lot more special. Furthermore, I have respect for the bands and events that use posters such as these or just any way of advertising that incorporates the artwork of a variety of people.
